BOULDER - On Friday, October 3 prior to the University of Colorado Invitational beginning, CU head coach Nicole Kenneally presented representatives from Healthlinks Foundation and the Boulder Community Hospital Foundation two checks totaling $12,800.00 that were generated at the 5th Annual Tennis Marathon in its fight against breast cancer.

Title sponsor Etkin Johnson Group hosted the 5th Annual Tennis Marathon For Breast Cancer event at the Millennium Harvest House on August 22.

Kenneally founded this charitable foundation in support of the several players' families who had been affected by this disease. The five-year event has generated nearly $80,000 to members of the Boulder community.

"This has turned into a great community event with the participants, as well as all the local businesses who continue to support a good cause," Kenneally said. She is in her 11th year with the Buffaloes.

Starting next week, the CU women's team will participate in their final fall tournament of the 2009 season traveling to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Mountain Regional in Las Vegas from Oct. 14-18. The women participating in the singles and doubles brackets will be seniors Camila Belassi, Melisa Esposito, Monica Milewski, and junior Abbie Probert. Milewski brings a perfect 7-0 singles mark into the regional and has moved up to 14th place on CU's all-time singles victories list (72). Not far behind are Esposito with 64 wins (21st overall) and Belassi with 57 triumphs (24th overall).

In doubles, Milewski has cracked the top-five in school history with 65 wins, including an impressive 26-9 record in fall play. Esposito stands in sixth place with 61 victories; Belassi is 19th with 51 wins, and Probert is 24th with 40 wins.
