LAS VEGAS, Nev. - University of Colorado senior Melisa Esposito made it a two-for-two appearance on Friday, advancing to the main draw singles bracket, then teaming with Camila Belassi for a semifinal doubles spot, Friday afternoon on day three of the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Mountain Regional at Las Vegas.
Esposito won her fourth straight singles match in Las Vegas improving her fall record to 7-1 as she defeated fellow CU teammate Belassi, 7-5, 6-2 in the main draw quarterfinals. Esposito will now play top-seeded Pichittra Thongdach (Boise State) on Saturday.
Esposito's win moves her into sole possession of 20th place all-time on the school's all-time singles wins list with 68 victories.
In doubles, Belassi/Esposito defeated Stephanie Jasper/Bianca Jochimsen of Boise State, 8-4 in the Round of 16, then later in the morning, crushed Wyoming's Sarah Summerfield/Carly Van Hollen, 8-1 in the quarters.
CU's other doubles team of Monica Milewski and Abbie Probert were beaten by Summerfield/Van Hollen (Wyoming) 8-6 in the Round of 16.
In the consolation singles back draw, Milewski returned to her winning ways notching her 74th career singles win defeating Denver's Julia Bauregger (Denver) 6-0, 6-3. Milewski ties current CU assistant coach Gleisy Torres Torres for 11th place.
