Spikers Look For A Win Against Red Raiders

BOULDER— The University of Colorado volleyball team will look to sweep the season series against Big 12 opponent Texas Tech on Saturday, November 7, at United Spirit Arena in Lubbock, Texas. The match is set for a 3 p.m. (MST) start.

 

Colorado also looks to end a six-match losing streak on Saturday. The Buffs own a 6-17 overall record and are just 1-13 in the league. The Red Raiders are on a 14-match slide and have yet to win a conference match in 12 tries. Overall TTU is 2-19.

 

CU is 1-9 on the road this season but the Red Raiders are 0-6 when playing at home. The Buffs have won 23 of 27 meetings against the Red Raiders, including a four-set victory on October 14 in Boulder.  TTU’s only win in the Big 12 in the last three seasons was against CU on Sept. 12, 2007.

 

Becah Fogle ranks 10th in the league with 3.23 kills per set to lead CU offensively; while Rosie Steinhaus and Kerra Schroeder rank second and third on the team with 2.79 and 2.52 kills per set, respectively. Kaitlyn Burkett has handed out 7.51 assists per set this year and is directing CU to a .158 attack percentage. She also owns the best individual hitting percentage on the team at .357 with 43 kills and just eight errors on 98 swings.

 

Katie Evanyo leads the Buffs with 2.41 digs per set and Fogle adds 2.37 digs per set. Nikki Kinzer has 58 blocks this season to lead the Buffs with .78 blocks per set. Schylur Edelman puts up .66 blocks per set to rank second for CU.

 

The last match Tech won was on September 11, against Gonzaga in four-sets. Its other win came on September 4, versus Southeastern Louisiana.

 

Amanda Dowdy is averaging 3.31 kills per set to lead the Red Raiders and ranks ninth in the league.  Barbara Conceicao adds 2.04 kills per set. Karlyn Meyers is directing TTU to a .129 hitting percentage with 7.97 assists per set.

 

On defense, Jenn Goehry is averaging 2.45 digs per set and Tory Vaughan ranks second on the team with 1.94 digs per set. Conceicao is averaging 1.30 blocks per set, which is second in the Big 12.
