DENVER -- The Metro Denver Sports Commission in association with the University of Colorado and Colorado State University announced Friday that Cinch Jeans has agreed to a three-year agreement as the new title sponsor of the Rocky Mountain Showdown - the annual CU vs. CSU rivalry football game. Cinch Jeans is the signature brand of Rocky Mountain Clothing Company, Colorado's locally owned western wear company.

Starting in 2010, the Cinch Jeans Rocky Mountain Showdown is returning to Invesco Field at Mile High for 10 years.  This year's matchup takes place on Saturday, September 4, with kickoff set for noon.

Joining Cinch Jeans is Dr Pepper, which is returning as a Presenting Sponsor of the 2010 event along with another hometown company, Ultimate Electronics, which will be the second Presenting Sponsor of the game.

"We could not be more excited about the new partnerships for the Rocky Mountain Showdown," KieAnn Brownell, President of the Metro Denver Sports Commission said. "The Rocky Mountain Clothing Company with Cinch Jeans, given their roots and commitment to Denver and both universities, are the perfect title partner.  Dr Pepper has not only been a tremendous supporter of the game in past years but to college football nationally.  And Ultimate Electronics, another local company, completes the trifecta."

"The employees of Cinch Jeans and Shirts are very proud to support both of these great Colorado universities by being the title sponsor fo the Rocky Mountain Showdown," Vice President of Sales/Marketing at Cinch Jeans Keith Mundee said.  "We have many CSU and CU grads employed here at Cinch and the Rocky Mountain Showdown has always been a great event that highlights this awesome Colorado rivalry.  We wish both of these great Colorado universities the very best of luck."

Miller International Inc., a Denver-based clothing company since 1918, is the parent company of Cinch Jeans and Shirts.  Cinch Jeans and Shirts sponsors CSU's "Legends of Ranch Horse Sale" and "The Running of Ralphie" with CU.

"Cinch Jeans has been a loyal and dedicated partner of ours through the Ralphie live mascot program, and we are thrilled to see that they are expanding their involvement in our relationship by making this level of commitment to the Rocky Mountain Showdown," CU Athletic Director Mike Bohn said.  "It is particularly inspiring to see new leadership from a local company invest in college football. We are most appreciative of the Cinch Jeans leadership team in making this marquee event a key strategic alliance for their brand."

"We believe this is a premier event for the city of Denver and state of Colorado, and we are delighted that the sponsors have made this commitment," Paul Kowalczyk, CSU Director of Athletics said. "The support of our business community, both schools, our fans and the people of Colorado will help make the Cinch Jeans Rocky Mountain Showdown an unparalleled success and an event we can all be proud of for many, many years.  We extend our sincerest appreciation to Cinch Jeans, Ultimate Electronics, and Dr Pepper."

The Rocky Mountain Showdown is Colorado's longest running in-state football rivalry and attracts over 68,000 fans to the annual event.  Traditionally played on Labor Day weekend, this game serves as the official kickoff of the college football season in Colorado.  Individual game tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster and through the schools at www.csurams.com and www.cubuffs.com.

The Metro Denver Sports Commission worked with Broomfield-based Creative Strategies Group on the Title and Presenting partnerships.

The Cinch Jeans Rocky Mountain Showdown is presented by Dr. Pepper and Ultimate Electronics in association with Comcast, offering XFinity TV, Internet and Voice, Shane Co., Newsradio 850 KOA and metromix.com.  Supporting Sponsors of the event are the Colorado Meth Project, Poudre Valley Health System and The UPS Store.
