BOULDER -The University of Colorado track and field team will host the CU Invitational Friday and Saturday, April 8-9, at Potts Field.
The men's and women's javelin and hammer throws will be contested on Friday, starting at 1 p.m. Saturday's events will start at 11 a.m. with the shot put, discus, pole vault, high jump and steeplechase. The field events will run on a rolling schedule while the track events will follow a time schedule. The final event scheduled for the track is the men's 4x400-meter relay at 4:30 p.m.
The Buffaloes will host many Front Range schools this weekend. Air Force, Chadron State, Colorado State, Colorado College, Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State-Pueblo, Mesa State, Metro State, Northern Colorado, UC-Colorado Springs, Western State and Wyoming will compete along with many unattached athletes.
Much of CU's team will be in competition at the meet as 68 individuals are entered in many events. In total, there are 628 athletes registered to compete at the CU Invite.
The forecast for Friday is partly cloudy with a high of 68 F and Saturday's outlook is also partly cloudy with a high of 63 F (as of Thursday afternoon). Should inclement weather force a cancellation of the meet, such notice will be posted on www.CUBuffs.com as well as a message left on the track and field office voice mail at 303/492-5227.
