SENIOR (2012): Shaner was an important part of the
Buffs' defense, making seven starts in 20 games. She helped CU to eight
shutouts, including a record-breaking three-straight to begin the season. She
played a season-high 71 minutes in the Buff's 3-0 blanking of Arizona.
JUNIOR (2011): She played in all 19 games, making 12 starts. She scored the first
goal of her collegiate career in CU's first game of the season, a 5-0 win
against Colorado College in the Colorado Cup. She took four shots, two of which
were on goal, in 896 minutes.
SOPHOMORE (2010): She Played in 11 games and made one start; CU's 3-1 win over Iowa
State. She played a total of 164 minutes in the Buffs' midfield and delivered
two shot attempts, both on goal.
FRESHMAN (2009): Shaner was one of only two CU freshmen to play in all 19 games,
and she started one of them. She made her collegiate debut during the home
opener against Oklahoma State when she played 49 minutes.
HIGH SCHOOL: Shaner was a four-year
letterwinner at Niwot High School under head coach Heather Solar. She was named
first-team all-conference, all-area and all-region as a sophomore, junior and
senior and was a second-team all-state selection as a junior and a first-team
all-state selection as a senior. With 17 goals and 17 assists in her senior
campaign, Shaner was named the conference Player of the Year. As a captain of
the Cougars, Shaner led Niwot to back-to-back city and conference championships
as a freshman and sophomore and helped lead her team to the elite eight, semis
and finals of the 4A State Championships the four straight years. Shaner played club ball for the Colorado
Storm North, making it to the State Cup quarterfinals four years in a row and
taking fourth as U-18's in Elite 1. In 2008 league play, Shaner and the Storm
took a 1-0 victory over U-18 State Cup Champions, Real National. Shaner was
also a three-year member of the Colorado State Olympic Development team, and
she attended Region IV Camp in 2007 and participated in the Region IV
Championships in 2008.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Shaner is majoring in
business at Colorado.
PERSONAL: Lauren Jane Shaner was born on
January 18, 1991 and is the daughter of James and Ellen Shaner of Longmont,
Colo. She has three siblings, Jeff, Samantha and Hannah. Shaner enjoys running, skiing, swimming and
dancing.
