BOULDER - The University of Colorado women's cross country team moved up to 11th in the USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll, while the men's team maintained its sixth-place ranking from the preseason poll.

The women picked up 224 points, 14 more than in the preseason poll, to move up two spots from 13th. The Buffs moved ahead of Virginia and Stanford, who are ranked 12th and 13th, respectively, in this week's poll. Virginia was ranked 10th in the preseason poll while Stanford was 12th. Villanova remained the unanimous favorite on the women's side, picking up all 12 first-place votes for 360 points.

The top 15 did not change in the men's poll as the Buffs held on to their sixth-place nod. They recorded 297 points, one more point than in the preseason poll. Stanford held onto to the top spot with Oklahoma State second and Northern Arizona ranked third.

The regional rankings were released on Monday and both CU teams were ranked second in the Mountain Region for the second straight poll.

The next varsity meet for Colorado is the 25th Annual Rocky Mountain Shootout on Saturday, October 2. The men will start the meet at 9 a.m. and the women's race will start at 9:45. A brief awards ceremony will follow.
