Welcome to Buffaloes Summer Break where CUBuffs.com catches up with Colorado student-athletes and coaching staff members throughout the summer "off season."

Today's installment comes from senior linebacker Douglas Rippy. A native of Columbus, Ohio, he was fifth on the team in tackles last year, despite only playing in eight games due to a knee injury. Rippy, who earned honorable mention to the Coaches' All-Pac-12 Conference team, had three games with 10 or more tackles and averaged 8.9 tackles per game - tied for the most on the team.

What is your favorite summer time activity?
Favorite summer time activity is playing video games!

Favorite vacation destination and why?
Atlanta. I love the southern hospitality and also shopping.

What was your first summer job?
My first summer job was at Chick-fil-A going into my junior year of high school.

What was your most memorable summer job experience?
A chicken nugget fight we had. I accidentally threw a hot nugget at my team workers and burned him. It was really bad.

What is the most important activity you engage in during the summer months that helps prepare you for the next season?
Summer condition and workouts. Also doing yoga, watching film, and doing PRP helps prepare me for the season.

If they offered a class in ______________________ at Colorado during the summer I would surely get an A+
Cell Phones

What is your favorite moment here at Colorado so far?
My freshmen year when I arrived here. I was so happy to meet the guys in my class and teammates.

The thing that surprised you the most about the move from the Big 12 to the Pac-12 Conferences is:
The level of competition is completely different. The Pac-12 is all speed and the Big 12 you get a mixture of both but not as much speed as the Pac-12.

Best advice for youth that are beginning to compete in athletics.
To make sure you stay in the books and become a sponge; soak as much information and details that the coaches provide you with.

If you could play a single game/event for a CU team that is not your sport, which would it be and why?
Basketball, I always wanted to get a fast break dunk and get the crowd going.

If you could bring one famous person to Colorado for a day-long tour who would it be, and what would you do with them?
Elle Varner so I could show her around the school and take her up to the mountains and watch the sun set!
