BOULDER - University of Colorado women's tennis head coach Nicole Kenneally announced  Saturday that Dhanielly Quevedo has signed a financial aid agreement to play collegiate tennis with the Buffaloes beginning in January 2013.

Quevedo is a native of Venezuela, currently resides and trains in Weston, Fla.

She's the second CU women's tennis student-athlete hailing from Venezuela and the first since 2008 (Gleisy Torres Torres, 2004-08).

"We are really excited to add Dhany to our roster for the spring 2013," Kenneally said. "Dhany is going to bring a wealth of experience and knowledge on her tennis playing experience on the Junior ITF circuit. She will add depth to our lineup in singles and doubles, and her personality is fun, vibrant and infectious. We are excited that she has decided to join the Buff Family."

Quevedo will study mass communication and selected CU over Nebraska and Louisville.

Quevedo's highest International Tennis Federation (ITF) ranking is No. 154. At the 2012 Pan-American Games she represented Venezuela with a silver medal in singles, and achieved a gold medal in doubles and mixed doubles.

She has also played in a number of international tournaments winning the ITF Grade 1 in Colombia (doubles); ITF Grade 2 in Bolivia (doubles); and the ITF Grade 4 at El Salvador (singles).

Quevedo will join a young Buffaloes roster in the Spring of 2013 that features only one senior.  She will be one of three freshmen, two sophomores, and two juniors.

CU will play five tournaments in the fall, then open the 2013 Spring campaign at the United States Air Force Academy, Jan. 27. The Buffs open the home spring season with a pair of back-to-back matches at the Millennium Hotel Harvest House, Feb. 2 against Stephen F. Austin (11 a.m.) and Feb. 3 against Northern Colorado. (10 a.m.).
