Morris Leads Buffs At Jack Christiansen Invite

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - University of Colorado junior Joe Morris took top honors in the 200 and 400-meter dashes at Colorado State's Jack Christiansen Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Morris tied his personal best in the 200, crossing the finish in 20.77 seconds. He beat teammate Blake Berens, who placed second in 21.62. Morris also won the 400, clocking a time of 47.17.

Kyle MacIntosh won the men's 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 52.23 and Tyler Baker finished second right behind him in 52.79.

The CU women also won a pair of track events. Freshman Eileen Gehring took top honors in the 200 with a personal best time of 24.21. Courtney Bouchet won the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 11:04.79. The women's 4x100-meter relay (Lindsy Mattson, Bridget Sweeney, Gehring and Brianne Beemer) also did well, placing second with a time of 46.62.

A couple of Buffs also won events in the field. Mark Jones reached a height of 6 feet, 11 inches in the high jump, tying his best mark of the outdoor season. Alyssa Frank took the top honors on the women's side after clearing 5-06.50 and Kelsey English took third with the same mark.

Members of the CU distance team will compete on Sunday at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invite at Stanford University.
