Overall the Buffs had a great day on the first day.

"We had a phenomenal first day in the heptathlon and decathlon," assistant coach Lindsey Malone said. "Bri, Genny, Alyssa and Katie competed as a team and fed off one another's performances in each event. On the men's side, Jason and Adam set new personal lifetime bests for day one as well. Jason had an enormous breakthrough in the shot put and followed it up with a fantastic high jump. Adam capped off the day with a fearless 400.

"The men and women competed as an elite team today and I am incredibly proud of their representation of the CU track and field program. Everyone is healthy and ready to earn a spot on the podium tomorrow."
