Quickly... The 102 degree temperature at kickoff was the warmest in school history, eclipsing the 99 degrees at kick on Sept. 21, 2002 at UCLA... Colorado scored in its 224th straight game tonight (last shutout: 7-0 at Nebraska in 1988), adding to the fifth longest active streak in the nation and the 11th longest all-time... P Matt DiLallo’s first two punts were inside-the-20 boots, as his first four of the season were such before recording a touchback on his third kick of he game... CU is now 1-3 in ASU Sun Devil Stadium, 1-2 in Fiesta Bowls and tonight’s first game against host Arizona State... the Buffs are now 9-3 all-time within the Grand Canyon state’s borders (counting an 8-0 mark against Arizona in Tucson)... All seven Colorado penalties were on the offense... QB Cody Hawkins suffered his first loss as a starting quarterback dating back to Pop Warner ball, as he is now 60-1; we will retire this statistic officially now.

Series Stuff. Arizona State became just the 11th school (out of 47 with multiple games) to win its first two games in the series with Colorado; the fourth Pac-10 team to do so, joining Oregon State, UCLA and USC.

Road Woes. Colorado has now dropped seven straight road games, dating back to a 30-16 loss at Iowa State in 2005, its longest road losing streak since dropping 10 in a row over the 1980 and 1981 seasons (0-5 both years; CU won its last road game in ’79 and their first in ’82). CU still owns the 11th best road record nationally (57-36-1) since the start of he ’88 season.

CB Terrence Wheatley.  His first quarter 35-yard interception return for a touchdown as the second INT return for a score in his career.  His first came his sophomore year on Oct. 30, 2004 in Boulder when he returned one 37 yards for CU’s only touchdown in a 31-7 loss to No. 8 Texas.  It was CU’s first interception since the Kansas game last year (Oct. 28, game 9), and was Wheatley’s 11th for his career, tying him for sixth on CU’s all-time pick list with Steve Rosga (1992-96) and Ben Kelly (1997-99).

First Action. CU players who saw their first career action tonight were QB Nick Nelson and P Tom Suazo.

Two-Score Leads. It doesn’t happen often, but CU led 14-0 before succumbing this evening, only the eighth time since 1993 that the Buffaloes have had a two-score lead at any point during a game and did not hold on for the win.  CU has won 89 of the last 97 times in this frame once moving ahead by two or more scores (9-plus points).

WR Scotty McKnight has caught 14 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns in CU’s first two games; he is rapidly approaching last year’s leading numbers, as TE Riar Geer led CU last season in all three categories (24-261-3).

ILB Jordon Dizon (12 UT, 3 AT, 15 TT).  Dizon has 37 tackles (tonight’s count unofficial, pending coaches video) and has moved into 12th place all-time at Colorado, as he has 319 for his career.  He is the nation’s third active leading tackler, and his two sacks tonight gives him 10 for his career, bumping him up into a tie for 29th in CU annals.

Colorado Injury Report.  Only one injury of significance, as DT Jason Brace suffered an ankle sprain and is day-to-day for the Florida State game next Saturday.
