NEW YORK - MSL Sports and Entertainment's "Talking Smack Express" will visit the University of Colorado campus as part of a promotional tour for the inaugural Gridiron Bash™, which includes simultaneous live concerts, fan fests and giant pep rallies tied to spring football games and is expected to be the largest sports and entertainment event ever.
Tickets for the Gridiron Bash are on sale now at www.cubuffs.com or by calling the CU ticket office at 303-49-BUFFS.
MSL Sports and Entertainment president Shawn Garrity and Chuck Muncie, (former NFL All-Pro with the Saints and the Chargers and a partner with MSL) are on a grassroots 18-market tour to promote Gridiron Bash, The Ultimate Fan Competition™, and the next stop is University of Colorado.
Fans are invited to visit the 42-foot RV, which is decked out in Gridiron Bash décor. Muncie and Garrity will be giving away freebies, such as t-shirts and mini-footballs – all will be there to encourage people to rally behind CU for a chance to win $1 million in the USA Today Bash for Cash Series™. As part of Gridiron Bash™, The Counting Crows will perform live in concert at Folsom Field on April 18, the night before the 2008 Spring Game. The evening also will include introduction and participation of the football team, appearances by coaches and former University of Colorado greats, and other fan festivities.
Participating Gridiron Bash schools are also competing in the USA TODAY Bash for Cash Series fan contest to see which school has the most loyal and passionate football fans and to select one fan from each school as the "Ultimate College Football Fan." Fans across the country can place votes for their favorite participating schools by attending a Gridiron Bash(TM) event or sending a text message (see details at http://www.gridironbash.com). The winning school will receive $1 million towards its general scholarship fund; second place gets $500,000, and third place receives $250,000.
To date, the "Talking Smack Express" has visited Penn State, where Fergie will perform; University of Kentucky, where Dierks Bentley will be live in concert; University of Tennessee, which will host Taylor Swift and Montgomery Gentry, and University of South Carolina, host to the Black Crowes -- all on April 18. The 42-foot RV, decorated Gridiron Bash(TM) from head-to-toe, will finish off the month with visits to Texas A&M, Arizona State, University of Utah, CU, and University of Iowa.
"All of these schools are in it to win, so the competition is incredible," says Garrity. "We expect it to become especially fierce as text votes begin coming in and the schools' running tallies of tickets sold get posted."
Fox Sports Net and the Big 10 Network will air two one-hour shows centered around Gridiron Bash(TM). The winning school will be presented with a check for $1 Million during the broadcast on Sunday, April 20, from the National Football Foundation's College Football Hall of Fame.
