COLUMBUS, Ohio – University of Colorado sophomore-to-be Adam Salzmann placed 16th overall at the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championship June 20-21 on the campus of The Ohio State University.
Salzmann recorded 5,154 points during the two-day event. Salzmann could have finished higher, but his foot was giving him problems. He was unable to record a score in the pole vault and he did not finish the 1,500-meter run which has been one of his best events.
Salzmann had recorded 3,351 points after the end of the first day. His best finish of the first day was the final event, the 400-meter dash. He clocked a time of 49.88.
The Wheat Ridge, Colo., native earned personal records in two of the 10 events. He recorded a throw of 38 feet, 11.75 inches in the shot put, surpassing his previous best of 34-05. In the discus throw, he threw 116-06, over eight feet farther than his previous best (108-05).
The U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials will take place June 27-July 3 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Several former and current CU athletes will compete in a variety of events.
