Our Mission
The Professional Sports Counseling Panel assists student-athletes at CU Boulder who desire to pursue a professional career in sports.  The PSCP provides counseling and information concerning compliance with NCAA Bylaws to maintain athletic eligibility while a student-athlete at CU Boulder, evaluation of a potential pro sports career, understanding how to become a professional athlete, evaluation and selection of a sports agent or financial advisor, understanding the terms of agent and professional contracts, and enhancing financial management knowledge and skills.

Our Program
The Professional Sports Counseling Panel provides educational services to student-athletes and staff at CU Boulder in the following areas:


  • compliance with NCAA Bylaws and maintenance of athletics eligibility while a student-athlete at CU Boulder, especially as related to contacts with sports agents
  • pro sport career opportunities and the operation of professional drafts
  • State of Colorado laws governing the registration of sports agents and their activities vis-à-vis our student-athletes
  • selection and evaluation of a sports agent or other professional advisors
  • experiences, successes and pitfalls as recounted by current and former pro sports athletes

The Professional Sports Counseling Panel offers the following services to CU student-athletes from all sports programs who are considering a professional sports career:

  • individualized consulting on the process for evaluating pro sports career potential, including guidance concerning participation in combines, tryouts, and camps
  • opportunities to meet sports agents through an annual “agent fair”
  • assistance in interviewing agents or other professional advisors
  • workshop on managing personal finances
  • assistance in understanding agent contracts
