General

-Head Coach Jeff Bzdelik earned the victory last Friday against Arkansas-Pine Buff despite being called to a family emergency. It was Bzdelik's 97th career collegiate win and improves to 4-0 against the Lions.

-Bzdelik remains a perfect 5-0 against Coppin State, picking up his 98th career collegiate coaching victory.

CU improves to 3-0 all-time against Coppin State. The Buffs also defeated the Tigers last year the Rainbow Classic (80-63).

-CU improved to 2-0 on the young season, a first since the 2002-03 season.

-The Buffaloes started the game strong with a 15-0 lead over Coppin State, and held the Eagles scoreless for the first 4:45 of the game.

-Colorado's 15-0 run to start the game was the best start of any team in the country for games played Monday.  There are 57 games on tap nationwide featuring Division I opponents, 53 of which began at or before 9 p.m. MT.  The next best start was an 11-0 start for Rider over Lehigh.  Both Oral Roberts (over Northwest Oklahoma State) and Wisconsin-Green Bay (over Rochester College) began games with a 10-0 run Monday.   The four games with a tipoff after 9 p.m. MT are Cal State Fullerton at UCLA (10 p.m.), McNeese State vs. Southern Utah (midnight) and Northern Colorado at Hawaii (2 a.m.).

-Last time CU scored 80 points back-to-back: Jan. 30  at Baylor, L, 97-83; Feb. 3, 2007 Oklahoma State, W, 89-77

-11 treys today is the most CU has made in a game since its 10 in the season opener last year (Ark.-Pine Bluff)

Cory Higgins

-Cory Higgins has made 20-straight free throws dating back to the second half of the Big 12 Championship (first round). Higgins made his last two FTs against Texas and all 16 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and went 2-for-2 tonight from the free throw line.

-Higgins has started every game during his time as a Buffalo since the 2007-08 season. Today marks his 65th consecutive start.

-Higgins starts the season scoring 20 plus points in five of the last six games dating back to last season. This is the third time in his career he has scored 20 points in back-to-back games (21 vs. Coppin State, 26 vs. Ark. Pine-Bluff). His career best streak is three games last season (20 at Baylor 2/28/09, 27 vs. Texas A&M 3/4/09, 22 at Kansas State 3/7/09)

Dwight Thorne II

-Thorne II improved his season high totals with 13 points, 3 steals, and 2 assists. 

Marcus Relphorde

-After battling foul trouble against Arkansas-Pine-Bluff, Relphorde scored 14 points tonight while leading the team in assists with four.

Alec Burks

-Burks had an impressive game with 18 points. He has recorded double figures in both of his two first starts as a Buffalo. (13 vs. Ark. Pine-Bluff)

Coppin State

-Since 1982-83 ... Coppin State recorded the third worst first half FG% 22.7 (5-of-22)

-CSU was held scoreless in the first 4:45, when their first field goal was scored at the 15:15 mark. This was their only field goal until their second was made with 8:04 left in the first half thus they only scored one field goal in 12:48 of play.
