TEXAS SOUTHERN: The Tigers enter tonight's game with a 1-1 record having lost at Texas-El Paso, 89-70 and defeating Idaho, 72-65 at home. Junior guard Whitworth Treasure has scored 27 and 21 points, respectively in his two games on a combined 15-of-26 from the field (.577), including a team-best five treys. Texas Southern was 8-25 a year ago with only three road wins, all in conference. TSU started last year losing all 14 non-conference games

AGAINST THE TIGERS: CU played against Lions on opening night; played Tigers three nights later; and again will tangle with Tigers from Texas Southern tonight. This is the first meeting for the Buffaloes against Texas Southern. The Tigers are from Southwestern Athletic Conference, the same as Arkansas-Pine Bluff. In head-to-head match ups with the SWAC, CU is 6-0 lifetime.

TONIGHT'S FEATURE: Marcus Relphorde graces the poster cover this evening.  Relphorde, a junior-transfer from Chicago, Ill. has made two consecutive starts to open the 2009-10 season as a Buff. In his two games in the new silver uniforms, the 6-7, 200-pound guard is averaging 10 points and five rebounds per game, in addition to five assists and three steals. In his second game of the season against Coppin State, Relphorde scored 14 points, grabbed six boards and handed-out four assists in 28 minutes.

POINT OFF THE BENCH: Sophomore guard Nate Tomlinson is the first point-guard to lead CU in rebounding in back-to-back games since Dominique Coleman in 2006-07.  Coleman actually led the team in rebounds in each of the last four games of the 2006-07 season (2/24/07 vs. Kansas St., 2/28/07 at Missouri; 3/3/07 vs. Nebraska; and  3/8/07 vs. Texas Tech at the Big 12 Championships).

SCOREBOARD WATCHING: The last time CU scored 80-plus in three straight games came in 2005-06: Jan. 18  Baylor (W, 81-48); Jan. 21 at Oklahoma State (W 80-78 (ot); Jan. 25 Nebraska (W, 81-59). The last time in regulation games only in the 2002-03 season: Feb. 15  Texas A&M  (W, 98-83);

Feb. 19 at Kansas (L, 94-87); Feb. 22 Missouri (W, 89-68).

LAST 3-0 START: The last time the Buffaloes  started the season 3-0 was the 2001-02 season.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Colorado placed four players in double figures in their 82-58 romp over Coppin State on Nov. 16. Cory Higgins led all scorers with 21 points, with Alec Burks adding 18, Marcus Relphorde (14) and Dwight Thorne II (13). The Buffaloes shot 50 percent from the field for the second straight game. CU made 19-of-21 free throws (.905) and made 11 treys. Nate Tomlinson also grabbed a game-high seven rebounds. CU has started 2-0, a first since the 2002-03 season. CU also made a three-pointer, that's 228-consecutive games.

TWO GAME LEADERS: After two games on the season, CU has four players averaging over double-digits. Cory Higgins is averaging 23.5 points per game, followed by Alec Burks (15.5), Dwight Thorne II (11.5), and Marcus Relphorde (10.0). On the boards, Nate Tomlinson is tops with 6.5 rpg. and also leads in assists (5.0 apg.). As a team, the Buffs are shooting .526 from the field; .869 from the free throw line; and have scored 80-plus in back-to-back games for the first time since the 2006-07 season.

ALMOST TO 100: Head Coach Jeff Bzdelik is inching closer to the century mark in terms of victories in seven collegiate seasons as a head coach. Entering tonight, he has 98 wins.

Cory Higgins: Recorded his 14th career 20+ scoring game with a 21-point performance against Coppin State and 26 points against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. He now has led CU in scoring 22 times and has totaled 851 career points, good enough for 34th place on the school's all-time scoring list. Against Pine Bluff, Higgins was a perfect 16-for-16 from the free throw line tying Chauncey Billups' 16-for-16 performance February 17, 1996 (Oklahoma) and JoJo Hunter, Iowa State (Jan. 20, 1980). It's Higgins' fourth career game in which he has connected on 10 or more free throws.  It also eclipsed his previous career high in both free throws made and attempted.  His previous high in free throws made was a 12-for-12 performance against Kansas January 17, 2009. Higgins has made 20-straight free throws dating back to last year.

GAME #1 REVIEW (vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff): CU had five players score in double digits (Cory Higgins [26], Alec Burks [13], Casey Crawford [10], Dwight Thorne II [10], Austin Dufault [10].  A first since five netted double-digits at SMU (Jan. 5, 2009) • Levi Knutson did not play in the season opener tonight and will miss an undetermined amount of time after injuring his right hip during a pre-season scrimmage against Utah. Knutson has played in 62 games with two starts. Tonight was the second game he has missed in his two years. Knutson did not play against Kansas (Jan. 17, 2009) last season • Tonight's game is the first of three home games in six days for the Buffaloes. It matches the 2004-05 season when CU also played three times in six days (Colorado State, UMKC, Radford - all wins).

FRESHMAN STARTERS: In his first three years, Coach Bzdelik has started at least one freshman in the starting line up on opening night. On Friday, Alec Burks started against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (10 pts., three assists, two rebounds). Cory Higgins started his first game (Nov. 9, 2007) with a 10-point, five-rebound, three-assist performance against New Mexico. Last year, Austin Dufault (13 pts.) and Nate Tomlinson (12 pts.) started against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

NEW UNIFORMS: The 2009-10 season marks the first time in 19 years the Colorado men's basketball team will don new home uniforms. This season's new look will be silver, a first since the 1990-91 season under first-year head coach Joe Harrington. The CU team wore black and silver for both home and away games.
