Preseason camp started with a team meeting on Sunday night and the first practice for the Buffs is scheduled for Monday night. Colorado will conduct two-a-days, team meetings, weight lifting sessions and other team building activities over the next few weeks leading up to the first match on August 27 against Furman at the Coors Events Center.
"Players and coaches alike are meeting this year's preseason camp with great enthusiasm," coach Liz Kritza said. "We have a lot of work to do and we have assembled a great group to continue the building of this volleyball program. It takes extraordinary effort, discipline, and intense belief to change a culture. We have an amazing opportunity this preseason to train unlike any other college team and are committed to making the most of our training camp."
This year's squad is very different from last year's team that finished 7-22 overall. The Buffs return just a pair of starters and letterwinners in junior Rosie Steinhaus and sophomore Kerra Schroeder. In the offseason, the Buffs added 14 new faces to the roster, five transfers and nine prep athletes.
"There were a lot of new faces in the room for the start of this season, but it is the sense of purpose that really resonated with me in our first meeting, and we need to make sure it transfers to the court," Kritza said. "This preseason will provide this young group with the opportunity to learn to overcome challenges as they acclimate to the college game."
Colorado opens the season at home with a pair of matches. The Buffs will face Furman on August 27 and Duke on August 28. Both matches are slated for 6:30 p.m. starts. Season tickets can be purchased online at CUBuffs.com for $25 or by calling 303-49-BUFFS.
