BOULDER-The University of Colorado women's tennis team defeated Metro State, 7-0 Saturday afternoon at the South Campus Courts. The win snapped CU's three-game losing streak and improves the Buffaloes record to 7-6 on the season.

The Buffs bounced back from three consecutive 7-0 losses to nationally ranked opponents, however dominated Metro State from the start.

"Today was a good day to test our concentration and to test our focus," said CU head coach Nicole Kenneally. "A lot of our players stayed with it and the scores showed it."

The Buffs started off quickly in doubles and never looked back. Colorado won its three doubles matches in impressive fashion, only losing three games out of the twenty-four played.

CU's success continued in singles where the Buffs won all six singles matches. Kristina Schleich defeated Alicia Holm 6-1, 6-0; Julyette Steur bested Nadia Khamis 6-0, 6-2; along with Winde Janssens, Erin Sanders, Carla Manzi Tenorio and Ania Anuszkiewicz played flawlessly, defeating all their opponents in straights sets.

On the season, Schleich and Janssens lead the Buffs in victories with 15 and 14, respectively. In dual play, Steur and Manzi Tenorio have eight wins apiece, while Janssens and Schleich each have seven wins.

CU improves to 4-4 at home and improves to 3-0 all-time against Metro State.

CU ends the home season next weekend at the South Campus Courts when they take on No. 1 ranked UCLA (Friday, March 23, 1:30 p.m.) and No. 4 USC (Sunday, March 25, 11:30 a.m.).

After the CU-USC match, the Buffaloes tennis program will host Campus Kids' Days at the South Campus Courts. Following the match, kids age 8-13 are encouraged to bring their racquets and attend a free clinic. In addition to the clinic, there will be free pizza and refreshments, as well as prizes.
