OJAI, Calif. - The University of Colorado women's tennis team had its season come to an end on Friday falling in two doubles matches on day two of the Pac-12 Championships at the Ojai Valley Athletic Club in Ojai, Calif.

After an unsuccessful day one in which all five singles players lost, the doubles pair of freshmen Julyette Steur and Ashley Tiefel fell 8-3 to Washington's Julija Lukac/Samantha Smith in the Invitational Bracket Round of 16. It was only the second match this spring that Steur/Tiefel had played together. The CU freshmen also lost back on April 21.

In the Pac-12 Championship Round of 16 Bracket, CU sophomores Winde Janssens and Kristina Schleich lost to No. 4 seed Courtney Dolehide and Pamela Montez of UCLA, 8-1.  The UCLA tandem is ninth nationally in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll.

Janssens and Schleich also played for only the second time together (April 21), the regular season finale against Utah. The Utes swept all three doubles matches.

Thursday's play was plagued with two rain delays with Schleich losing to No. 83 nationally ranked Annie Goransson of California, 6-0, 6-1; Janssens fell to No. 5 seed and No. 14 ranked Zsofia Susanyi of Cal, 6-4, 6-2; and USC's No. 7 seed and No. 17 Danielle Lao defeated Steur, 6-2, 7-5.

Playing in the invitational singles, sophomore Carla Manzi Tenorio fell to Natasha Smith of Utah, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2; and Tiefel lost to Arizona State's Joanna Smith, 6-1, 6-1. Both singles brackets are single elimination.

CU concludes the tennis season at 7-14 overall and 0-10 in conference play.
