Dave Callan
Position: Director of Student-Athlete Leadership

Dave Callan is the Director of the STEPS Program which stands for: Success Training and Excellence Planning for Student-Athletes.† He oversees programming around student-athlete development including leadership and career planning.

Callan came to CU in July 2011 after spending much of his time in public education.† He was a teacher and coach at Boulder’s Fairview High School, an administrator at Pine Creek High School in Colorado Springs and then was the Director of Athletics, Activities and Student Leadership for the Douglas County School District.† In addition, he served as president of the Colorado High School Athletic Directors Association and as a member of the CHSAA Executive Committee.

Callan earned his bachelor’s degree in business from CU and is currently a member of the CU Boulder Alumni Association’s Board of Directors.† He has a master of arts in education from the University of Phoenix. After growing up in Boulder, he met his wife Carol when they both taught and coached at Fairview.† They have two children, Greg and Tom.
