BOULDER - University of Colorado head golf coach Roy Edwards has completed his recruiting for the 2012-13 season with the addition of Philip Juel-Berg, who has signed a letter-of-intent to play golf for the Buffaloes.

Juel-Berg hails from Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, the nation's largest city which is located on the eastern shore of the island of Zealand, separated from Sweden by the strait of Oresund.  He will be a true freshman.

"We are excited to announce the addition of Philip to the program," Edwards said.  "He is a highly regarded player who is a great complement to our current team as well as our other incoming freshmen."

Juel-Berg has compiled an impressive amateur resume playing all across Europe.  He most recently has finished third in the Maage Trophy (72-66-65-203, or 13-under); fifth in the Denmark Match Play National Championship; and sixth in the Team Rudersdal Open (70-70-72-212).

In 2011, he was fourth in the Maage event (68-69-71-209) and placed eighth in the Danish International Amateur Championship (76-77-73-74-300).  In 2010, he was third in the Denver Match Play and ninth in two major events: the Sir Henry Cooper (one of the largest under-18 European tournaments), where was two-under par with a 72-70-74-70-286 (-2) and in the Saab/Belgium International, where his final round 67 was the lowest in the field and propelled him to the top 10 finish with a 4-over 292 score.

"I'm looking very much forward and excited to be part of this great team," Juel-Berg said.  "The team looks good and we will have a very exciting program this year.  I therefore hope that I can help the team all the way to the NCAA's and that we will a good, competitive school."

Juel-Berg joins soon-to-be fellow freshmen Kraig McLeod, from Pebble Beach, Calif. (Carmel High School), and Ross Thornton, from Leawood, Kan. (Blue Valley North High School), who signed with the Buffs in November.
