BOULDER—With just over a week until the start of basketball season, Buffs Madness, the University of Colorado’s event centered around the opening of the 2012-13 basketball season, is taking shape.  The event takes place Friday, October 12, immediately following the Buffs volleyball game vs. Arizona St. that begins at 7 p.m. at the Coors Events Center.  Both the volleyball game and Buffs Madness are free to students and the general public.

After the conclusion of the volleyball match, estimated at about 8:30 p.m., the attention will turn to the start of basketball.  The event will feature many fun elements including team introductions, scrimmages, contests, C-Unit fan training and more.  A portion of the evening will be dedicated to getting to know the players and while the players are warming up, the first batch of this season’s big heads, which have become a staple of the student section at the Events Center, will be debuted.

In addition to both the women’s and men’s team being in attendance, the event will also feature CU’s pep band, spirit squad, Chip, and Ralphie.  Students who arrive early will also be treated to some free pizza during the transition between the end of the volleyball game and the beginning of Buffs Madness.  One lucky person in attendance will also win a trip for two to accompany the men’s team play at Kansas on December 8.

Students in attendance who are part of the CU Sports Pass will get credit for the game for this season’s loyalty program.   Additional details will be released in the coming days.

CU is also tagging seats during the event that are available for purchase as season tickets for the upcoming men’s and women’s basketball season.   To get the choice of the best seat locations prior to the event, fans can call the CU ticket office at 303-49-BUFFS or go to to put their $100 deposit down for men’s basketball season tickets or $50 for women’s season tickets to get on the priority list to be seated.
