BOULDER - Eight University of Colorado soccer players were named to 2012 Pac-12 Conference All-Academic teams, commissioner Larry Scott announced Wednesday. Student-athletes must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or significant contributor to be eligible for selection to the academic team.

Junior Hayley Hughes is the only Buffalo to become a first-team Pac-12 All-Academic selection two years in a row. Hughes was one of two Buffs to receive first-team honors in the inaugural season of the conference. The business major from Highlands Ranch, Colo. has a 3.92 overall GPA, helping her to Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District VII 2012-13 first team honors earlier this season. Hughes was a key attacker this season, scoring two goals and contributing three assists off 27 shots.

Seven Buffs were selected as Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mentions. Amy Barczuk (Sr., business), Annie Brunner (Jr., business), Lizzy Herzl (Jr., communication), Darcy Jerman (So., communication), Shaye Marshall (Sr., communication), Lauren Shaner (Sr., business) and Anne Stuller (Jr., philosophy) round out the group.
