BOULDER - Senior tight end Nick Kasa has been invited to play in the 2013 East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 19 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The longest-running all-star college football game showcases some of the best players in the country while also being a benefit event for Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Kasa completed a solid senior campaign by recording 25 catches for 391 yards and three touchdowns. He averaged a team-best 15.6 yards per reception (minimum two catches) and had eight catches of 20-plus yards.

Among his highlights this season included a win against Washington State where Kasa totaled three catches for 87 yards and a touchdown, with 71 of those yards coming on his touchdown grab in the fourth quarter.

The 2012 season was Kasa's first full season at tight end as he made the switch from defensive end in the middle of the 2011 campaign.

The contest has seen some of the greatest players and coaches of all-time participate in the game since its inception in 1925, with this year's game being the 88th installment. The all-star game has featured the best college football players from the East and West, with all proceeds going to benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Players and coaches will visit Shriners Hospitals for Children in Tampa before the game and participate in games, crafts and other activities with the patients.

Shriners Hospitals for Children is a network of 22 hospitals that are dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing pediatric specialty care, innovative research, and outstanding teaching programs for professionals.

This year's game will be televised at 2 p.m. MT on the NFL Network.
