BOULDER - Women's basketball's Brittany Wilson and men's basketball's Andre Roberson received CU Athlete of the Week honors on Tuesday
for their athletic performances during the week of Dec. 3-9. CU's Athlete of the Week is
sponsored by Silk®, Horizon® and International Delight®.
Wilson, a junior from Long Beach, Calif., scored 13 points; including a team
season-high 3-of-5 three-pointers
to
lead the women's
basketball team to a 72-46 win over instate rival Colorado State. The guard scored 10 of her points in
the first half to help Colorado build a 20-point halftime lead. Wilson also registered
season-highs in field goals, 3-pointers and assists. She was 4-of-8 from the field
with a pair of 3-pointers, three rebounds and three assists in the first half
alone as she played just six minutes in the second half.
Roberson, a junior from San Antonio, Texas,
averaged 11.5 points and 12.5 rebounds with 2.5 steals, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 assists per game in
the men's basketball team's 1-1 week. Roberson recorded his Pac-12
Conference best fourth double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds in CU's
70-61 home win over Colorado State. The forward's
29th career double-double (CU is 23-6 in those games) was supported with a
team-best three steals and two blocks on 5-of-11 shooting from the field.
On Saturday
against
the No. 9 ranked
Kansas Jayhawks, Roberson grabbed a game-high 11 boards to mark the
44th career game
with double-digit
rebounds. He
also led CU with two blocks and tied team honors with two steals. In 83 career games, Roberson has grabbed seven
or more rebounds 64 times.
This is
Roberson's second and Wilson's first CU Athlete of the Week award of the
season.
