BOULDER - In regards to the University of Colorado women’s basketball team, members of the media and Pac-12 Conference coaches are in harmonious agreement.

The Buffaloes were picked to finish third in the 2013-14 Pac-12 race in the annual Preseason Media Poll the league office announced on Tuesday. Colorado’s slot in that poll matches that of the annual Pac-12 Preseason Coaches Poll which was released on Oct. 24.

Colorado, ranked No. 19 nationally in both Associated Press and USA Today Sports Coaches Preseason Polls, received 129 points trailing only defending co-league champions Stanford and California. Stanford was picked to win the 2013-14 league race, receiving 166 points including 12 of 14 first place votes. California had 156 points and received the other two first place nods.

The top eight selected by the media mirrored the order of the coaches’ poll. Washington finished just behind the Buffaloes in fourth with 122 points followed by UCLA (112), USC (99), Utah (79) and Oregon State (64).

Arizona State was ninth (62) and Washington State 10th (50) flipping spots from the coaches’ poll. Oregon and Arizona did the same, with the Ducks coming in at 11th in the media poll (27) and the Wildcats in 12th (21).

Colorado was picked ninth in last season’s media preseason poll before embarking on a memorable season which saw the Buffaloes finish fourth in the league race at 13-5. Colorado was 25-7 overall, advancing to the 13th NCAA Tournament in program history and first since 2004.

Colorado officially opens its 40th season on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m., as the Buffaloes travel to face Colorado State in Fort Collins.
