BOULDER-Coming up on the end of the calendar year, we've put together a top 10 moments of 2013. These moments are meant to represent the on-the-field/court/slopes/course, etc., moments.
No. 1: Two Titles
And the top moment(s) of 2013 for the Colorado Buffaloes. Not one, but TWO NCAA Championships! The Ski Team won the schools 25th National Championship in March and the Men's Cross Country Team won the 26th in November.
No. 2: Ski's Three
Continuing the countdown of the Top 10 stories of 2013, coming in at No. 2 was the shot heard round the Coors Events Center. Askia Booker hit a running three-pointer at the buzzer to help the Buffs knock off Kansas, 75-72, on Dec. 7.
No. 3: Three-Peat
Coming in at No. 3 for the top moments of 2013 is the three-peat performance for the Men's Cross Country team, winning the Pac-12 Championship for the third straight time, every year since the Buffs entered the conference.
No. 4: Emma Coburn
The No. 4 story of 2013 was Emma Coburn and her two individual NCAA Championships, the indoor mile and outdoor steeplechase, winning the final race of her collegiate career.
No. 5: Arizona
It was all about revenge on Valentine's Day as the Buffs, who controversly lost to the Wildcats to open the 2013 calendar year, upset No. 9 Arizona at home, 71-58.
No. 6: CSU
The No. 6 momemt of the year was the football team's win over Colorado State to open the Coach Mike MacIntyre Era in fashion, dismantling the Rams, 41-27.
No. 7: Futbol
The No. 7 momemt of the year was the soccer team's postseason run. AFter being one of the final teams to earn an NCAA Tournament bid, the Buffs upset powers Denver and BYU to advance to the program's second Sweet 16.
No. 8: Spikers
The No. 8 moment of the year was three volleyball wins over ranked teams at home, including No. 1 Washington, that enabled the Buffs to earn a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
No. 9: P-Rich
The No. 9 moment of 2013 is Paul Richardson's junior season. The wide receiver set numerous CU records and declared for the NFL Draft.
No. 10: March Madness
The No. 10 moment of 2013 is March Madness. The men's and women's basketball teams both advancing to the 2013 NCAA Tournament.
