WOODLAND, Calif. – After helping the University of Colorado lacrosse team to its third consecutive win on Saturday, midfielder Marie Moore was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Rookie of the Week on Monday.
The co-captain from Brick, N.J. has been a great leader for the young Buffs, holding one of the team’s most impressive stat lines. Moore has a team-high 23 draw controls and five caused turnovers and ranks second on the team with 14 goals off 26 shots.
Against Temple, Moore scored three goals (two off of free position shots) and contributed two assists. She was an important part of CU’s 4-0 run to start the second half, scoring 59 seconds into the half and contributing back-to-back assists to give CU a 9-2 lead and an eventual 15-6 win.
In CU’s first ever MPSF win, a 12-6 victory over Fresno State on Saturday, Moore recorded her third career hat trick and had a team-high five ground balls and three draw controls.
Moore is the second lacrosse Buff to earn an MPSF player of the week title. Johnna Fusco earned the season’s first Rookie of the Week honor for her performances against Stetson and Jacksonville.
Stanford took home the other weekly titles, with junior midfielder Hannah Farr earning offensive and senior goalie Lyndsey Munoz earning defensive honors.
