Kresl Named To Pac-12 All-Academic First Team

BOULDER – University of Colorado junior guard Lexy Kresl has been named to the 2014 Pac-12 Conference Women’s Basketball All-Academic first team the league office announced on Wednesday.

Senior center Rachel Hargis and redshirt freshman guard Lauren Huggins both received honorable mention to the All-Academic team.

A native of Paradise Valley, Ariz., Kresl is an integrative physiology major sporting a 3.63 cumulative grade point average. Kresl aspires to be a physician’s assistant and hopes to attend Colorado’s nationally recognized PA school after completing her undergraduate degree. She was a second team Pac-12 All-Academic pick as a sophomore; the only underclassman among the 10 student-athletes that made up the first and second teams.

Kresl leads Colorado in assists with 94 (3.1 apg) while averaging 8.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest. She is third in the Pac-12 in free-throw accuracy at 84.1 percent (69-of-82) and also ranks 10th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.3) and 12th in assists on the conference leaderboard.

Hargis, a native of Robinson, Texas, sports a 3.17 GPA and is scheduled to graduate this May with a degree in psychology. She is Colorado’s career leader in games played at 133 and also ranks eighth in blocked shots with 105. Hargis also earned honorable mention to the Pac-12 All-Academic team as a junior in 2013.

Huggins, who hails from Littleton, Colo., is an integrative physiology major carrying a 3.04 GPA. She is second on the team in 3-pointers with 34 and ranks 12th in the Pac-12 in 3-point accuracy at 36.2 percent (34-of-94). Huggins, who is a sophomore academically, earns honorable mention in her first year of eligibility for the program.

To be eligible for the Pac-12 Women’s Basketball All-Academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and either be a starter or a significant contributor.
