BOULDER — The University of Colorado volleyball team will take a step out of the Coors Events Center to begin spring competition this Saturday.

The Buffs will compete in an intra-squad sand scrimmage at The Oasis in Broomfield, Colo., April 5, with a new start time of 11 a.m. Parking and admission are free to the public.

After a week of practice on the sand courts, the Buffs will transfer their skills from the indoor court to the beach. Sand volleyball enables each player to prove their versatility as there is a heavy emphasis on performing every skill instead of one.

This is the first competition of the spring since the breakout 2013 indoor season where CU went 18-14 overall and 9-11 in the Pac-12. The 18 wins are the most in a single-season for CU since 2003. The Buffs return 13 of their players to the roster after graduating six seniors.
