BOULDER - The University of Colorado soccer team continues its unbeaten streak in spring play, tying New Mexico and picking up a win over Northern Colorado here Saturday.

The Buffaloes improve to 5-0-1 in the 2014 spring season and 18-1-2 in spring play under head coach Danny Sanchez.

Colorado began the day with a 1-1 tie against New Mexico. In the teams’ first match-up since 2007, the Buffs edged the Lobos seven to six in shots, but UNM grabbed the upper-hand in shots on goal (four to three) and corner kicks (three to two). In the net, CU’s soon-to-be sophomore keeper Kenzie Tillitt grabbed three saves, while the Lobos got two stops.

The Buffs got on the board in the 29th minute, with Madison Krauser assisting Bianca Jones. CU kept up its lead, but couldn’t hold off the Lobos for long, with UNM tying things up in the 50th minute off a corner kick.

CU continued its dominance over Northern Colorado, taking down the Bears 3-0. The Buffs hold a 7-0 regular season lead over the Bears, never allowing a goal. In the teams’ meetings in both the spring and fall of 2013, the Buffs also won by a score of 3-0.

Though the teams each got a corner kick, CU dictated the offensive pace, outshooting UNC 16-2 and allowing the Bears zero looks on goal.

Krauser scored in the 34th minute, assisted by Carly Bolyard. Just nine minutes later, Darcy Jerman put the Buffs up 2-0 off an assist from Brie Hooks. Jerman and Hooks connected again in the 62nd minute, with Hooks netting CU’s third off a Jerman assist.

CU concludes the spring season with a trip to Lincoln, Neb. on Saturday, April 19. First up is CU’s former Big 12 rival Nebraska. The teams have not played since their final year in the Big 12 (CU left for the Pac-12 Conference and NU left for the Big Ten Conference after the 2010 season). Though NU won the team’s first five meetings, CU won the last five, leaving the series in a 7-7-2 tie. The Buffs conclude the spring against Nebraska Omaha, a team they have never faced in the regular season.
