Buffaloes Complete 2016, 2017 Football Schedules
Release: June 24, 2014
By: David Plati, Associate AD/Sports Information

BOULDER — The University of Colorado has added two regional schools to fill the last two vacancies in its non-conference football schedules over the next five seasons, school officials announced Tuesday.

Idaho State University completes CU’s 2016 schedule, while the University of Northern Colorado fills out the Buffs’ 2017 slate.

The Buffaloes will host Idaho State on Sept. 10, 2016, as the Bengals will be the first school from the state of Idaho to ever visit Boulder; for that matter, ISU will also be the first-ever opponent CU will play that hails from the Gem State.  The schools signed a one-game contract, with television rights belonging to CU and the Pac-12 Conference, which will also provide the game officials.  In return, Idaho State will receive a payment of $500,000.

Northern Colorado will make its first trip to Boulder since 1933 when the Bears head south to visit on Sept. 16, 2017.  That also is a one-game contract, with CU and the Pac-12 owning the broadcast rights and the officials to come from the Pac-12.  CU will compensate UNC in the amount of $350,000, and the Greeley school also will be provided 1,700 tickets at various prices that it can sell and retain the proceeds (currently estimated at $30 and $50, which could net UNC an additional $75,000).

The Buffaloes lead the UNC series by a 9-2 margin, with all previous games between 1917 and 1934; the last meeting took place in Greeley on Oct. 12, 1934, which also was the first night game in CU history.  Most of the games took place when both schools were members of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and UNC was known as Colorado State Teachers College.

Colorado’s non-conference schedules are now complete through 2019; the Pac-12 announces the conference game slates in early January every year, though opponents, both home and away, are known through 2018.  The schedules:
