Welcome to Buffaloes Summer Break where CUBuffs.com catches up with Colorado student-athletes and coaching staff members throughout the summer "off season."

Today's installment comes from sophomore hurdler Tyler Baker. A native of Santa Rosa, Calif., Baker placed eighth in the 400 meter hurdles at the 2012 Pac-12 Championships, recording a personal best time of 52.76 seconds in the event during that meet. He also competed in the 4x400 relay for the Buffaloes, helping the team log a 3:10.34 mark at the 2012 Mt. SAC Relays.

What is your favorite summer time activity?
Hiking and wakeboarding with my friends and family.

Favorite vacation destination and why?
Lake Shasta because it is a beautiful lake and we go wakeboarding there over the summer.

What was your first summer job?
My first summer job was at a place called Safari West, my job was to clean up after the animals and build fences.

What was your most memorable summer job experience?
Working at Safari West in the rhino area, we had to put together an electric fence but the rhino chased after us and we all had to sprint over the fence.

What is the most important activity you engage in during the summer months that helps prepare you for the next season?
I like to weight lift a lot over the summer. I feel it really helps me prepare for the upcoming season.

If they offered a class in ______________________ at Colorado during the summer I wouldsurely get an A+
Physical Education

What is your favorite moment here at Colorado so far?
My favorite moment here at Colorado was competing at the Pac-12 Championships in Oregon.

The thing that surprised you the most about the move from the Big 12 to the Pac-12 Conferences is:
The fact that the Pac-12 Conference landed their own TV network to show all the sports that they have on television.

Best advice for youth that are beginning to compete in athletics.
My best advice is that no matter what, you should always work hard because if you don't you will always regret it at the end of the season.

If you could play a single game/event for a CU team that is not your sport, which would it be and why?
If I could do a single event other than track at CU it would be downhill skiing. That looks like it is a pure adrenaline rush and I think snow sports are awesome.

If you could bring one famous person to Colorado for a day-long tour who would it be, and what would you do with them?
If I could bring a famous person to Colorado it would be Robert Downey Jr. and we would cruise around Boulder in his Iron Man R8 Audi.
