Welcome to Buffaloes Summer Break where CUBuffs.com catches up with Colorado student-athletes and coaching staff members throughout the summer "off season."

Today's installment comes from senior women's golfer Devin Dougherty. A native of Woodland, Calif., Dougherty has played in 14 rounds over five tournaments during her three-year CU career. Her best round was a 78 shot her freshman year in the final round of the 2009 Heather Farr Memorial. Overall she has four career rounds in the 70s.

What is your favorite summer time activity?
Swimming and hanging by the pool trying to get rid of my sock tan!

Favorite vacation destination and why?
Carmel, California. It boasts some of the most beautiful golf courses in the world. Also, I love walking around town looking at the houses. Each is so unique, they're like life-sized, usable pieces of art.

What was your first summer job?
I worked at our local golf course, The Yolo Fliers Club, as a camp counselor.

What was your most memorable summer job experience?
I cleaned showers at Core Power Yoga, yuck!

What is the most important activity you engage in during the summer months that helps prepare you for the next season?
My swing coach lives in California, so when I am home for break I am able to see him regularly.

If they offered a class in ______________________ at Colorado during the summer I would surely get an A+
Baking!

What is your favorite moment here at Colorado so far?
There are too many to choose! But watching the team qualify for NCAAs at Colorado National was really exhilarating. The atmosphere was electric and inspirational. It made me excited for next year because the program is gaining momentum.

The thing that surprised you the most about the move from the Big 12 to the Pac-12 Conferences is:
The bad weather at conference (tournament). I thought we left that in the Big 12.

Best advice for youth that are beginning to compete in athletics.
Don’t get discouraged. Golf can be draining and frustrating, but it is also very rewarding. Never forget it’s just a game and have some fun with it!

If you could play a single game/event for a CU team that is not your sport, which would it be and why?
Ski race. My dad used to ski race and it looks like such an adrenaline rush.

If you could bring one famous person to Colorado for a day-long tour who would it be, and what would you do with them?
Graeme McDowell. I would take him out to Colorado National to play some golf, then hike up the Flatirons and go down to Pearl at night for some dinner and Boulder hospitality.
