Andre Gurode has been named to five Pro Bowls as a member of the Dallas Cowboys.
Gurode Named To NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2011
Release: June 02, 2011
By: CUBuffs.com

BOULDER-Former University of Colorado All-American Andre Gurode was named the 57th best player in the NFL on NFL Network's show "The Top 100: Players of 2011."

NFL Network unveils 10 players per week on their countdown of the top 100, most recently revealing Nos. 51 through 60. Voting for the list was performed by 413 current NFL players.

Gurode will be entering his 10th season with the Dallas Cowboys this fall. Drafted by the Cowboys in the second round (No. 37 overall pick) in 2002, he has been named to five Pro Bowls as Dallas' center (2007-08-09-10-11). Those five Pro Bowl appearances are more than any other CU player, breaking a tie this past season with Cliff Branch, who earned four Pro Bowl nods as a wide receiver for the Oakland Raiders (1974-75-76-77).

At CU, Gurode lettered four times playing offensive guard and was a first-team All-America selection in 2001 as a senior. In 2001, Colorado won the Big 12 Championship and averaged over 200 yards rushing and passing for just the third time in school history and the Buffs led the nation in rushing out of the running back positions.

That season, he led the Buffs in domination blocks (112), touchdown blocks (21), great pass protection plays (14) and downfield blocks (48) while allowing just a half quarterback sack and one quarterback pressure all season.

Thus far NFL Network has unveiled Nos. 51 through 100 and only one other center has made the cut; Jeff Saturday of the Indianapolis Colts came in at No. 59. New episodes air Sunday nights at 6 p.m. MT on NFL Network. Re-airings of the show featuring Gurode can be seen Thursday at 2 p.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m.
