BOULDER — University of Colorado head football coach Dan Hawkins is resting comfortably following a surgical procedure to remove a kidney stone Thursday afternoon.

The procedure was a success and he will remain hospitalized overnight at Boulder Community Hospital where his wife, Misti, is a nurse; he is expected to check out in the morning.

Rumors of Hawkins being in the hospital circulated wildly Thursday, and he relayed to CU sports information officials through his wife to be truthful if we received inquiries, which were many.   His son, Cody, vaguely alluded to his father having something and asked for people to “Keep their fingers crossed” on his Facebook page, which he changed to “Two thumbs up” once the procedure was complete.
