AT COLORADO: This Season (Fr.) - Projected as a wide receiver for his true freshman year in college, though he could also be tried at cornerback. He joined the team as a walk-on for preseason practices.
HIGH SCHOOL - A four-year letterman, he was an all-state (second team), all-county, all-area and all-conference selection his senior year, as he was also voted team MVP. His senior season, he racked up 980 yards (5.5 yard average) and 10 touchdowns on the ground, with a long run of 60 yards. As a defensive back he had 60 tackles, three stuffs for loss, one recovered fumble, four pass deflections and one interception. He also punted the ball five times for a 35.0 average (with a long of 45), and connected on 7-of-9 field goals (long of 40); he only missed one PAT. As a return man, he averaged 12 yards per punt return, while he also averaged 15 yards on kickoffs, with his longest going for 75 yards. His junior year, he was an all-area defensive back and all-county kicker, as he had 50 tackles, two fumble recoveries, four pass breakups and three interceptions. On offense, he reeled in 30 passes for 230 yards, with six touchdowns and a long reception of 40 yards, and also threw a 45-yard TD pass. He was 7-of-10 on field goal attempts, with his biggest kick spanning 35 yards. During his sophomore campaign he was named an all-area defensive back and honorable mention all-county member. He had three receiving touchdowns (his longest was 50 yards) and also connected on 9-of-11 field goals, as one was the longest field goal in school history (47 yards). On defense he was in on 50 tackles, with three going for losses, and he had two pass deflections and one interception. As a freshman, he earned all-area honors at kicker. Under coach Ron Tesone, Niwot was 5-5 his senior year, 7-4 his junior year, 10-2 his sophomore season and 2-8 when he was a freshman. He also lettered in baseball three times at shortstop and second base for the legendary coach Bob Bote. Niwot won the state championship and Tri-Valley league title his senior year, when he was named to the all-conference, all-area and all-state squads.
ACADEMICS - He intends to major architecture at Colorado, while he also has some interest in business. He was a consistent honor roll student in high school, as he was also a member of the National Honor Society.
PERSONAL - Born April 12, 1985 in Boulder, Colo. Decided to come to Colorado because he has grown up a huge Buff fan.
