Dobson HS: Senior year averaged 22.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.1 steals per game • Dobson went 19-12; lost to Mesa in the second round of the Division I state playoffs • Second-team all-state (Division I) honoree • 2013 Rivals.com: Three-star: 30th ranked shooting guard; Ranked No. 143 nationally by Rivals.com • Averaged 21.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 5.3 steals and 0.8 blocks during his junior season at Basha High School (Chandler, Ariz.) • Hopkins can shoot, going 60 percent from the field as a junior, including 37 percent from beyond the arc and 57 percent from the free throw line • Scored 20 or more points 16 times and led his state’s Section II in points, steals and assists in a 22-7 season that saw the Bears advance to the second round of the AIA Division I playoffs and a No. 10 state ranking • His 5.3 steals per game in 2011-12, led the state of Arizona and ranked #23 nationally • Other western schools pursuing him included Washington State, Oregon State, Arizona State, New Mexico, Boise State, Colorado State, USC and UTEP • Played AAU ball last spring and summer for the Compton Magic.
