BOULDER – University of Colorado basketball fans get the best of both worlds this Friday when the men's basketball team officially tips-off the 2008-09 season against the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions at the Coors Events Center, starting at 8:30 p.m.
With an exciting basketball season ahead, fans also get to purchase admission for just $1. All fans will receive a free CU t-shirt courtesy of CU Athletics and FSN Rocky Mountain while supplies last.
The free CU t-shirt will give basketball fans free admission to all the men's and women's basketball non-conference home games through the first week of January when they wear the shirt to those games. Fans can purchase these $1 tickets online at www.CUBuffs.com or at the Coors Events Center box office the night of the game.
Originally scheduled at 7 p.m., the start of the game has changed to 8:30 p.m. to allow Buff fans to participate in the Pearl Street Stampede in front of the Court House (14th & Pearl) at 7 p.m. After the celebration, fans can attend the basketball game in its entirety.
The Stampede takes place Friday before the CU football team plays No. 11 Oklahoma State on Saturday at Folsom Field. Fans who would like to see the Buffs' Folsom Field finale can go online to CUBuffs.com to purchase 4 tickets for $80. Kickoff for Saturday's football game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
"The team, the coaches and myself are truly looking forward to the start of the basketball season," said CU men's basketball head coach Jeff Bzdelik. "In addition to the season starting, I'm also looking forward to the great fan base we have for each home game to come out and cheer both the men and women on."
