Buffs Hold Steady At No. 12, No. 14 In Polls

BOULDER - Colorado held at No. 12 for the second-straight week as the eighth Associated Press Women’s Basketball Top 25 Poll was released on Monday.

Colorado, 10-1 overall, received 472 points, up five from 467 last week. The Buffaloes have been ranked in 23 consecutive AP polls, their longest run since appearing in 27 straight from Jan. 22, 2001 through the final poll of the 2001-02 season.

Colorado has a long history of rankings in the AP poll, dating back to the 1980-81 season. This ranking marks the 181st time Colorado has appeared in the AP poll, which is the third-most among Pac-12 Conference schools, trailing only Stanford and USC.

The Buffaloes also held their position at No. 14 in the latest USA Today Sports Coaches Poll. Colorado received 366 points, up four from 362 last week.

The Buffaloes currently have five ranked teams on their schedule, three of which were preseason No. 10 picks. Stanford is No 4 and Louisville is No. 7 in both, Iowa is No. 22 in the AP and No. 23 in the coaches poll, California is No. 21 in the coaches poll and No. 23 in the AP and Arizona State is No. 24 in the AP and No. 25 in the coaches poll.

Colorado opens the 2014 Pac-12 Conference schedule this weekend traveling to play at USC on Friday, Jan. 3, at 9 p.m. MT and at UCLA on Sunday, Jan. 5, at 8:30 p.m. MT. Both contests are scheduled to be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
