BOULDER - Eight University of
Colorado soccer players were named to 2012 Pac-12 Conference All-Academic
teams, commissioner Larry Scott announced Wednesday. Student-athletes must have
a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or significant contributor
to be eligible for selection to the academic team.
Junior Hayley Hughes is the only Buffalo to become a first-team Pac-12 All-Academic
selection two years in a row. Hughes was one of two Buffs to receive first-team
honors in the inaugural season of the conference. The business major from
Highlands Ranch, Colo. has a 3.92 overall GPA, helping her to Capital One
CoSIDA Academic All-District VII 2012-13 first team honors earlier this season.
Hughes was
a key attacker this season, scoring two goals and contributing three assists
off 27 shots.
Seven Buffs
were selected as Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mentions. Amy Barczuk (Sr.,
business), Annie Brunner (Jr., business), Lizzy Herzl (Jr., communication),
Darcy Jerman (So., communication), Shaye Marshall (Sr., communication), Lauren
Shaner (Sr., business) and Anne Stuller (Jr., philosophy) round out the group.
