Final USTFCCCA XC Poll Has Men 7th, Women 23rd

NEW ORLEANS - The final 2012 USTFCCCA Cross Country Poll was released on Tuesday afternoon and has the CU men ranked seventh and the women 23rd.

The men dropped five spots in the poll from second place after taking third at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships behind Northern Arizona and BYU, respectively, although the Buffs are still ranked higher than both teams.  NAU is currently 10th and BYU is eighth. CU recorded 289 points in the final poll and picked up two first-place votes in the process. Oklahoma State remained the top team in the poll (354 points and nine first-place votes) while Stanford and Iona tied for second with 330 points.

The women's team moved up one spot in this week's poll to 23rd with 91 points. They also placed third at the regional meet behind Weber State and New Mexico. Weber State is 15th this week and New Mexico is 17th. Florida State once again took the top spot in the rankings with 10 first-place votes and 358 points.

The NCAA Championships are the only meet left this season. Both of CU's teams earned at-large bids and will represent the Buffs at the meet on Saturday, November 17 in Louisville, Ky. The women's 6-kilometer race is set for 10 a.m. MT and the men will run the 10k at approximately 11:15 a.m. MT. Louisville will host the meet at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
