FORT COLLINS, Colo. - University of Colorado freshman Brittany Lewis is currently in second place in the heptathlon after the first day of competition on Thursday at the Glenn Morris Combined Events meet.

Lewis recorded 2,928 points in the first four events and is second to Wyoming's Jenna Mann who put together 3,029 points. Lewis set personal bests in the high jump and the 200-meter dash. She cleared 5 feet, 5 inches in the high jump and finished the 200 in 25.66. Lewis also finished the 100-meter hurdles in 15.49 and threw the shot put 32-09.

The heptathlon will conclude on Friday.
