BOULDER - Men's golfer Beau Schoolcraft (junior) and track and field's Bridget Sweeney (freshman) are awarded CU's Athlete of the Week for the week of April 9 - 15.

Schoolcraft shot a 9-under 201 (64-67-70) at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic to set a school record for best 54-hole gross score in CU's history, topping three previous 204 totals. The Englewood, Colo. (Kent Denver/UCLA) tied for third in the tournament, helping the Buffs to a second-place finish. His 6-under 64 in the first round marked just the fifth time in school history that a player has shot under 65. His 9-under score is tied for the seventh best score in relation to par in CU's history, with Schoolcraft also owning one of the six performances ahead of him (a season opening minus-11 at the CU-Mark Simpson Invitational).

Sweeney, originally from Hopkins, Minn. (Hopkins), took first place in both the 400-meter and 200-meter dashes on Saturday at the Colorado Invitational. Her time in the 200 was a personal best (25.06), while she recorded a time of 56.47 in the 400. On Sweeney's performance, CU head coach Mark Wetmore commented, "I think she was unhappy with her 400, but I explained to her in these cool and windy conditions, you have to adjust your expectations. Then she came back and outran everything in the 200 meter run."

Also nominated for this week's award: Winde Janssens (tennis) and Blake Theroux (track & field).

Sophomore Winde Janssens won Colorado's first road conference tennis match since doing so last April as a freshman in CU's 6-1 loss at Kansas. Janssens point helped the Buffs in a near upset 4-3 loss at No. 30 Arizona State. Janssens victory drew CU even with the Sun Devils in the singles competition with a straight-set win over Hannah James, 7-6 (3), 6-1 at the No. 2 slot, evening the team score at three. Although the Buffs lost the match in the doubles competition, Janssens won her 15th singles match.

Freshman Blake Theroux topped the field in the 1,500 at the CU Invitational with a personal record time of 3:55.66. On Theroux's performance, Wetmore commented, "His 3:55 isn't a world beating time, but at this elevation it is pretty good. He is a guy that people are going to be seeing a lot more of later on."
