Buffs Fall in Qualifying Round

LOS ANGELES - University of Colorado seniors Camila Belassi and Melisa Esposito both competed at the 2009 Rivera/ITA All-American Championships qualifying rounds, and both came up short in their respective first round matches.

Belassi lost in straight sets to Akron's Zara Harutyunyan, 6-3, 6-3 in the Round of 64 singles tournament. Harutyunyan would eventually win two more matches and qualify for the singles main draw.

In doubles, Belassi and Esposito dropped a close 9-8(7-2) decision to Texas A&M's Morgan Frank and Elze Potgieter in the Round of 32. Frank/Potgieter would also go on and win two more matches advancing to the main draw.
