Welcome to Buffaloes Summer Break where catches up with Colorado student-athletes and coaching staff members throughout the summer "off season."

Today's installment comes from senior alpine skier Khyla Burrows. A native of Winter Park, Colo., Burrows competed in 13 races for the Buffaloes as a junior, finishing in 10. She recorded her first career top 10 finish with a 10th place effort in the giant slalom during the third RMISA Alpine Qualifier. Burrows has seven top 20 finishes in giant slalom action in her three years.

What is your favorite summer time activity?
In Boulder I love floating the creek!

Favorite vacation destination and why?
Maui, Hawaii, I went there last summer with my family and loved it because it was so beautiful and there were so many fun activities to do!

What was your first summer job?
My sister and I worked for a cafe at the base of Winter Park ski area.

What was your most memorable summer job experience?
While working at the cafe I left a milkshake in the machine and it exploded all over the entire place.

What is the most important activity you engage in during the summer months that helps prepare you for the next season?
Lifting, Biking

If they offered a class in ______________________ at Colorado during the summer I would surely get an A+
Beating the heat.

What is your favorite moment here at Colorado so far?
Hiking a 14'er in the middle of the night with a couple of my teammates.

The thing that surprised you the most about the move from the Big 12 to the Pac-12 Conferences is:
How little it affects skiing.

Best advice for youth that are beginning to compete in athletics.
Everyone has the desire to win, but only champions have the desire to prepare.

If you could play a single game/event for a CU team that is not your sport, which would it be and why?
Soccer! I played for 10 years and loved it.

If you could bring one famous person to Colorado for a day-long tour who would it be, and what would you do with them?
Seth Myers, I would show him around Boulder and spend the entire day laughing.
