Scott were honored with CU Athlete of the Week awards on Wednesday for their
performances during the week of Dec. 24-30. CU's Athlete of the Week is sponsored by
Silk®, Horizon® and International Delight®.
Kresl, a sophomore, led the Buffs in scoring with 20 points and helped
the women's basketball team stay perfect on the year (11-0) with an 84-39 win
over New Mexico on Saturday. Her 20
points ties a career-high, matching her effort against Oregon State on March 3.
She shot 5-of-5 from the 3-point arc, which tied a school record for
3-pointers made without a miss (Jenny Roulier, 5-of-5, against Missouri, Feb.
13, 2002). The guard from Paradise
Valley, Ariz., also moved into 14th place on CU's all-time made 3-pointers
list with 78 now for her career, passing Sabrina Scott who had 74 from
1999-2003. Overall, Kresl shot 87.5
percent (7-of-8) from the field, marking a new career-high percentage wise and
her seven made field goals tied her personal best.
The freshman Scott recorded his second double-double of the season
with 21 points and 10 rebounds in the men's basketball team's 80-52 victory
over Hartford on Saturday. The men's
team is now 10-2 for the first time since the 2005-06 season.
The Monument, Colo., native's 21 points set a new career-high and marked
the second game of the season in which he scored 20 or more points. The forward hit nine of his 12 shots from the field;
both tying season highs in each category. Seven of Scott's 10 rebounds came on
the offensive end.
This is the first CU Athlete of the Week award of the season for both
Kresl and Scott.
