2009 Big 12 All-Newcomer Team 2009 Second Team All-Big 12
HEMPEN ON BARCZUK: Some players are nervous at the beginning of the season, some player's confidence is not that strong. But Barczuk is like 'OK let's go.' There's no fear in her. I think the fact that she was a two-sport athlete made her come into these environments ready to play and ready to compete.
FRESHMAN (2009): Barczuk was the only freshman to start all 19 of CU's games. She logged the second most minutes played with 1,607, and she scored one goal while attempting 16 shots on the season. She contributed one of the eight CU goals against St. Mary's when she was on the receiving end of a corner kick for the seventh goal in the 8-1 win over the Gaels. Barczuk earned her first Big 12 honor when she was named to the 2009 All-Newcomer Team and after her stellar freshman performance, she earned a second-team All-Big 12 honor in 2009.
HIGH SCHOOL: Barczuk lettered three years in varsity soccer at Arapahoe high school. She led her team to the state championships as a freshman, semifinals as a sophomore and quarterfinals as a junior. Barczuk was named second-team All-League as a sophomore. On the club side, Barczuk played for the Riverside Renegades and helped them to three State Cup Championships in 2003, '04 and '08, and they went on to the regional semifinals in 2004 and quarterfinals in 2009. Despite dropping the State Cup final match in 2009, Barczuk was still crowned the State Cup MVP for the tournament. From 2001-08, Barczuk and the Renegades compiled an impressive 210-45-41 record and were league champions (Premier I, Elite) nine out of 12 seasons. Barczuk was also a member of the 2007 Colorado Olympic Development team and after at the Regional Camp she was named to the regional pool, and eventually was one of 18-of-35 players to land a spot on the regional team. Her Region IV team competed against three other regions at the 2008 Inter-Regional Camp, where she saw action on both the U-17 and U-19 teams. A dual-sport athlete, Barczuk also excelled on the basketball court, lettering four years and wrapped up her prep career as a McDonald's All-American Finalist. She was a two-time All-State honorable mention and first-team All-League selection, and was named to the second-team All-League as a freshman. A heavily recruited athlete in both sports, Barczuk was recognized with the 2008 Sportswomen of Colorado "All-Around" Award. She was a member of the National Honors Society and a first-team Academic All-State selection at AHS.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Barczuk is a business major at CU.
