Don Trentham enters his second season as an assistant soccer coach at the University of Colorado. Trentham serves as the Buffs' recruiting coordinator and has helped build a dominant defensive presence. 

In his first season at CU, the Buffs earned an 8-8-4 record while having their best defensive performance since 2007. The Buffs started the season with a record-setting three shutouts. Their eight total shutouts tied for fourth in the Pac-12 Conference and tied sixth all-time at CU.  

Prior to joining the Buffaloes, he spent the 2011 season on Danny Sanchez's staff at the University of Wyoming, helping the Cowgirls to a 12-5-4 record and a spot in the Mountain West Conference Tournament final.

Trentham joined Sanchez's staff after spending nine successful seasons as the head coach at Montana State University Billings (2002-10). He coached the Yellowjackets to an overall record of 85-75-10 and completed five seasons with 10 or more wins.

In 2010 he was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Coach of the Year after guiding MSU Billings to its first-ever NCAA tournament bid, where the Yellowjackets defeated Cal State-Los Angeles in the first round. In 2006 he led his team to a No. 1 ranking in the NSCAA/Adidas Regional Poll and No. 8 in the NSCAA/Adidas National Poll.

During his tenure with the Yellowjackets, he coached 31 All-Conference selections, three Academic All-Americans, two GNAC Freshmen of the Year and one NCAA Woman of the Year.

From 2004-08, Trentham also served as the Director of Soccer Programs at MSU Billings. His duties included supervising both men's and women's programs, fundraising and chairing the committee responsible for hiring a men's soccer coach.

Prior to his time with the Yellowjackets, Trentham served as a graduate assistant women's soccer coach at East Stroudsburg (Pa.) University in (2001-02). He also served as an assistant men's soccer coach at Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University (1999-2001).

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Trentham also has excellent experience coaching youth soccer. He has been the head girls' coach of the Magic City Soccer Club in Billings since March 2006, leading them to six Montana Youth Soccer State Championships. He has also been heavily involved with Montana ODP and served as a Region IV ODP staff coach in 2004 and 2005.

Trentham holds a USSF National Goalkeeping license, a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and a USSF "A" license.

He played soccer at Columbia (Mo.) College where he earned his bachelor's degree in education in 1999. Trentham earned his master's degree in education in health and physical education from East Stroudsburg in 2007. Trentham and his wife Jenn have a son, Landon.
